ADM Odontocem Calcium Silicate Based Cement Liquid
Designed and manufactured in Australia, Odontocem is the first calcium silicate based cement to successfully incorporate a steroid. Odontocem is eugenol-and terpene-free with no zinc oxide chemistry which is toxic to exposed pulps. Odontocem, when set, provides a biocompatible layer advantageous for successful direct pulp capping.
Odontocem’s unique chemistry results in a transiently high pH of the set material which reduces over time to a more neutral pH. This provides an initial antibacterial effect, followed by an improvement in the biocompatibility of the set material over time in order for the healing to proceed.
Odontocem powder and liquid are mixed to form a calcium silicate, calcium sulphate, calcium hydroxide and calcium phosphate-based cement liner for use as a calmative liner in deep cavities, pulp capping of vital exposures and for deciduous pulpotomies. The use of formocresol for pulpotomies is no longer required with Odontocem providing a far safer alternative.
Odontocem contains 0.2% triamcinolone acetonide, a potent steroid, to provide transient relief of pain. The relatively low dose of the steroid is such that the inflammatory response required for the formation of the dentinal bridge is only temporarily delayed. This also helps to prevent false positives as may occur with products containing higher steroid levels.
Unlike other calcium silicate based materials on the market (MTA), you will be surprised at how reasonably priced Odontocem is making it suitable for everyday use.

ADM Odontopaste 8gm Tube
ADM Odontopaste
Odontopaste is a zinc oxide-based root canal paste with 5% clindamycin hydrochloride and 1% triamcinolone acetonide. It was designed and developed in Australia. It offers the benefits of a zinc oxide paste with a bacteriostatic antibiotic preservative. Together they act to temporarily obturate a root canal and prevent bacterial repopulation both within the root canal and the paste itself. In addition, a steroid is present to temporarily reduce inflammation. The steroid, triamcinolone acetonide, is useful for the transient reduction of postoperative pain.
Odontopaste is not designed to eliminate all the bacteria within a root canal. If the elimination of bacteria is the aim then ADM’s Odontocide is the medicament of choice. When using Odontopaste it is therefore important to continue using the standard protocols for root canal preparation whereby EDTA and sodium hypochlorite rinses are performed.
The mixing of additional calcium hydroxide in a 50:50 combination with Odontopaste is not recommended as the steroid component is destroyed immediately by the increased alkalinity and it offers only minimal benefits over the use of calcium hydroxide alone. Odontopaste contains calcium hydroxide but only at a 0.5% level which has been proven to be optimal for the preservation of the steroid component.
Odontopaste does not stain teeth, hence, no bleaching is required following the use of Odontopaste.

ADM Odontocide Calcium Hydroxide Paste
Odontocide is ADM’s first-generation patented endodontic dressing which incorporates a non-specific COX inhibitor. Odontocide contains 20% calcium hydroxide and 7% ibuprofen. Calcium hydroxide pastes have the advantage of being effective against bacteria in biofilm, however, they have an increased incidence of post-operative sensitivity.
Odontocide achieves a pH of over 12, responsible for the antibacterial effect, and Odontocide is combined with a non-steroidal analgesic to assist in reducing the incidence of post operative sensitivity.
Odontocide comes in an 8 gram tube and is easy to pickup with a lentulo spiral and spin into the root canal.
