The story of Microcopy begins with Thom Maass Sr. and Thom Maass Jr. in 1970 looking for a way to get into the dental industry. Their initial product line started with miniature x-ray materials, hence the name Microcopy. After spending years in dentistry (set in the backdrop of the HIV/AIDs epidemic) they noticed a glaring opportunity in the way burs were reused and sterilised multiple times.
The Maass’ sought to revolutionise the dental industry with burs that performed as well as the leading brands while preventing the risk of cross contamination. They were adamant to offer burs at a more economic price that didn’t require the time consuming steps of cleaning and sterilising. The NeoDiamond pre-sterilised Single-Patient-Use bur was born! To this day it is still the leading SPU diamond in the dental industry.
