SMI Daclon nylon sutures are non-absorbable, synthetic, monofilament sutures known for their high tensile strength and minimal tissue reaction. They are designed for general soft tissue closing and/or ligation and are available in blue and black. The monofilament structure provides a smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and preventing bacterial growth.

Material
Extrusion of polyamide 6.0 or 6.6.

Structure
Monofilament. The single-stranded design allows for easy passage through tissues, reducing drag and trauma.

Coating
None.

Absorption
Non-absorbable, gradually encapsulated by connective tissue. The thread mass diminishes, approximately 10% a year by rupture of chemical links (hydrolytic action).

Microscopic Uniform Diameter
Ensures smooth tissue passage and prevents capillarity, which could harbor bacteria.
