The difference between Plane Surface and Front Surface mirrors
A plane, or rear surface mirror, features the reflective surface at the rear of the mirror surface so light must pass through the glass to strike the reflective coating before reflecting through the glass which produces a slightly distorted secondary reflection.
A front surface mirror has its reflecting surface at the top, or surface, of the glass. This leads to a single reflection resulting in an exact sharp image, eliminating light refraction and ghosting, which is inevitable in plane surface mirrors.
