SMI Surgicryl Monofast sutures are synthetic, absorbable, monofilament sutures made from Polyglecaprone 25. They are designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation in various surgical procedures. These sutures offer a balance of high tensile strength, minimal tissue reaction, and predictable absorption. They are known for their smooth passage through tissue, good knot security, and ease of handling.

Material
Surgicryl Monofast sutures are made from Polyglecaprone 25, a copolymer composed of 75% glycolide and 25% ?-caprolactone.

Absorbable
Absorbable sutures, broken down and absorbed by the body over time.

Monofilament
Made of a single strand of material, which provides a smooth surface for easier tissue passage and reduced capillarity (which can minimise bacterial growth).

Absorbable/Tensile Strength
These sutures offer good initial tensile strength, with approximately 60% of the strength remaining after 7 days. Absorption is typically complete within 90 to 120 days.

Tissue Reaction
Causes minimal tissue reaction.
