Both zinc oxide and eugenol have well known and therapeutic effects on the pulp. Eugenol can be both anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial, depending on the concentration reaching the dentine and pulp.

Triamcinolone, released from Ledermix Cement can diffuse through the dentine to reach the pulp. In one study, 97.6% of teeth, treated with Ledermix Cement, had the reversible pulpitis resolved. In addition, calcium hydroxide has beneficial effects on the healing of dental pulps and the formation of reparative dentine.

Ledermix Cement, being a hard setting material, is useful as a sedative dressing or lining under temporary or final restorations in teeth with reversible pulpitis – with or without pulp exposures. Interim crowns can be cemented using Ledermix Cement to reduce inflammation due to preparation. Additionally, Ledermix Cement can be used in the management of cracked teeth with reversible pulpitis.

For primary teeth, Ledermix Cement can be used as a root filling material following canal cleaning and preparation.
