Product availability and positioning plays a key role in any successful and effective infection prevention initiative.  In order to make hand hygiene and surface hygiene products available to all users, including hospital and health care staff, patients and visitors – where appropriate, it is important that the products are easily visible, distinguishable and accessible.

And when it comes to patient care, one factor contributing to improved compliance with hand hygiene is access to alcohol-based hand rub at the ‘point-of patient’ care which may include at the bedside or bed-end and within easy reach of health care staff.
